I've often been in the same situation - it all started with becoming captain of the Pom Pom team in high school (yeah, I was one of *those* girls). A job I didn't want but got anyway because, well, I'm not sure. And that would happen in pretty much every club/team situation I found myself in until I got married and had kids! A spouse and children are an incredibly great excuse not to do stuff like that. Lame, I know. But now that I'm single and my kids are older I'll probably find myself drawn to those situations again. And I'll hopefully be more mindful about whether or not I take on the leadership mantel.

The lesson is - just because you're good at something and just because someone asks you to do it, doesn't mean that you should be doing it. I suppose you need to answer this: What is the greatest and highest use of your time and energy at any given moment? Are these extra things keeping you from achieving the other goals you've set for yourself? If so, time to find a new (surely less attractive) young buck to take over.
